Cellulite is a skin condition where there are lumpy, dimpled, and bumpy appearances on the skin. It is also referred to as hail damage, cottage-cheese skin, the mattress phenomenon, or orange-peel skin. Physicians refer to cellulite as edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (EFP).
This skin condition is more prevalent in women than in men. It is estimated that more than 80% of women over 21 years old around the globe have cellulite.
Cellulite is found in the thigh, buttocks, hips, and stomach regions. It can also be found on the breasts and upper arms. It occurs in these areas because they have high amounts of fatty tissue, especially the thigh.
